funny book sayings 2010 05 11 p1

When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left, I buy food and clothes.

I entrench myself in my books equally against sorrow and the weather.

Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier.

Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.

A good book is the precious life-blood of a master spirit, embalmed and treasured up on purpose to a life beyond life.

Books that you may carry to the fire and hold readily in your hand, are the most useful after all.
